GLYNDEBOURNE TURBINE: HAVE YOUR SAY
There is a proposal to build a 230-foot wind turbine on Mill Plain above Ringmer. It will be as tall as a 24-storey skyscraper and will be visible over hundreds of square miles.
If constructed, the turbine will the the tallest structure in either of the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty that cover the South Downs and within the area of the designated national park. It will have a huge impact on the landscape. Three public footpaths converge on the site. The turbine will be erected 90m from the nearest footpath. A Noise Assessment has shown that in high winds and from the public footpaths, the noise generated by the turbine will be in excess of the government's guideline figures.
If you think it would be better to harness wave power, or erect wind turbines far out at sea, and protect the landscape, please respond to the planning application. Have your say!
How to respond to a planning application:
Simply say in your own words how you feel about the proposed wind turbine, how it would affect the landscape, the view, your enjoyment of the Downs.
